Why is it that many patients see improvements in their asthma and allergies after getting adjusted even though chiropractic care does not treat asthma and allergies? Research shows there is a connection between the spinal column, nervous system, immune system, and respiratory tract.
From the American Academy of Asthma, Allergies, and Immunology (AAAAI) showed
1 in 10 kids are diagnosed with asthma. This is costing the nation $50 billion per year (3,300 per person per year)!
In 2012, 9% or 6.6 million children reported hay fever in the past 12 months. Why are our kids sick? Family Roots Chiropractic is here to help you understand the body and the possibilities of why it is responding with asthma and allergies.
Wheezing which is a scratchy or whistling sound when you breathe is the most common symptom (of asthma) is. Other symptoms include:
Asthma is chronic inflammation of the airways. But why is the chronic inflammation there?
Allergies are one of the most chronic conditions worldwide according to AAAAI,. Allergies occur when the immune system reacts excessively to an allergen (substance seen as harmful to the immune system which in most cases are undamaging). When the immune system over-reacts, it creates an influx of the Immunoglobulin E antigen (IgE). IgE causes other cells to release histamine thus causing an allergic reaction. Common symptoms of allergies include:
At Family Roots Chiropractic we look to see if nerve disturbance is present in the spinal column. Patients with asthma and allergies sometimes have stress and tension on the nerves related to the respiratory and immune system. If these nerves have disturbance, the nerve function typically decreases. A trained chiropractor will find the stress is on the nervous system (if any) and correct it so nerves can function more optimally.
